OR2014: Schedule for remote participation

Many of the OR2014 sessions will be broadcast online via Adobe Connect and will be recorded for later viewing. They are available free of charge. While this is not the same experience as actually being there at the conference, we hope that this will be of benefit to all of those who are interested in open repositories and related topics but couldn’t make it to Helsinki this year.

In general, we will broadcast the plenary sessions and two of the main conference parallel tracks starting from Tuesday morning, June 10 until 3:15 PM on Thursday, June 12. There may be some exceptions. The pre-conference sessions on Monday, June 9, or the Interest Group sessions from Thursday afternoon, June 12, until Friday afternoon, June 13, will not be broadcast or recorded.

A preliminary list of sessions that will be broadcast is available below. The list will be updated as we go along. Please note that we will be using two Adobe Connect meeting rooms, one of which has a capacity of 1000 participants, and a smaller one with 100 simultaneous participants.

How to participate

We are using the Adobe Connect service provided by the University of Helsinki to broadcast the sessions. Please follow this link to read separate instructions on what you should do to participate in the sessions:

Some of the key points that we want to highlight are:

  • Log in as a Guest, preferably with your real name and affiliation
  • You can write comments and ask questions in the Adobe Connect chat window, but please don’t use status events, eg. raise hand, step away, etc.

The addresses for the Adobe Connect meeting rooms used for each session are mentioned in the schedule below.

Note about time zones

Since the conference is held in Helsinki, Finland, all of the times mentioned below and in the conference program are in Helsinki summer time, GMT+3. This means that we are (for example) two hours ahead of London and seven hours ahead of New York. Depending on where you are located, you may find that some of the broadcast times will be very inconvenient on your time zone, but recordings of sessions that are broadcast will be made available after the conference, so you can come back to watch them at a later time.
